Beancounters on Bikes, Back for our 4th Year

by Judd Ballard

We are at it again.  To date, we have 10 riders registered and confirmed, two of which are making their first trek with the team.  This also means we’re still waiting on half of last year’s team to join and start fundraising.  With the long Memorial Day weekend behind us, it’s time to kick training and fundraising into high gear.  Last year’s team raised over $22,000!

Just like last year, the ride starts at Columbus Commons, ends at Kenyon College and includes stops in Franklin County, Fairfield County, Licking County and Knox County.  If you ask anyone about last year’s new route, you’ll hear nothing but positive responses.  Furthermore, the outpouring of support from both spectators and volunteers at every turn and every stop is truly incredible.

We’re currently just over two months out… the 2013 ride is August 10th.  The total number of registered riders is just under 5,100 with fundraising at almost $2.5 million.  Do not forget, 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC – James).

Also like last year, GBQ is extending an invitation to any and all clients and friends of the firm interested in joining our team.  We’re already excited to welcome two new outsiders to the 2013 peloton and hope we can welcome more.  Whether you’re already registered and need a team or are planning on participating and have yet to sign up, Team GBQ would love to have you.  Please contact team captain, Judd Ballard, by Friday July 19, 2013 if you’re interested at jballard@gbq.com or 614.947.5207.  For all of you creative folks, we’re also soliciting design ideas for this year’s team jersey!

If you’re unable to ride, please consider donating in any manner possible.  Virtual rider and volunteer opportunities are always available.  Come join this great event and help Pelotonia build on its past success!
