The Employee Retention Credit for the Restaurant Industry

Webinar

The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) was originally enacted as part of the CARES Act to assist employers impacted by COVID–19, but the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, enacted on December 27, 2020, modified it significantly. These changes, including the elimination of the PPP loan restriction, are proving particularly impactful to the restaurant industry. Since many restaurants experienced government shutdowns/restrictions and/or revenue declines over the past year, they may now be eligible for the ERC, a refundable payroll tax credit.

Join our Tax & Business Advisory Services Director Kaz Unalan, State & Local Tax Services Director Sara Goldhardt, and Tax & Business Advisory Services Manager Lorani Orobitg as they discuss the ERC for the restaurant industry and provide valuable insights on specific restaurant FAQs, including:

  • Restaurant eligibility
  • Calculating the credit
  • Filing considerations
  • Impact on PPP forgiveness strategy
  • Latest updates on the credit

This webinar qualifies for 1.0 hour of CPE based on Ohio CPE requirements.
