Year No. 5 for Team GBQ. And this is the year we’re going to break $100,000 raised in total for 5 years.
Once again, another handful of new riders have joined our team, bringing some much needed young enthusiasm to the GBQ Peloton. With two members from last year’s team having moved out of town, we’re still looking to hold steady at 15 riders. For whatever reason, fundraising efforts seem to be a little behind this year, so we need as much help as we can get at this point. But we’re also counting heavily on this Thursday’s Pelotonia on the Patio event at The Endzone in the Arena District to boost contributions. And Friday, July 18th, the team is hosting a similar type fundraising happy hour at Bernard’s in the Short North.
There are no significant changes in the course this year. All returning riders who passed through Granville last year should be excited to know the course once again strolls through the heart of historic downtown Granville. If you haven’t heard by now, the turnout far exceeded expectations, and the instant surge of adrenaline riding through the crowds lining the street was a much needed post-lunch energy boost.
With less than two months until race day, there are currently 5,800+ riders registered, and $3+ million raised. Both well ahead of last year’s pace. If you have 8 minutes, watch this video from Dr. Caligiuri that discusses where the funds go to support cancer research.
For the 4th year in a row, the firm is welcoming any and all friends and family to ride with our team. If you’re interested, register as soon as possible so we may get your team jersey ordered. The firm’s marketing department is already busy with the 2014 Team GBQ jersey design.
Please contact team captain Judd Ballard by Friday, June 27th, 2014 if you’re interested or at firstname.lastname@example.org or 614.947.5207. And for those just wishing to be a part of the Pelotonia experience, there are always virtual rider and volunteer opportunities available.
See you on the road.
