Busy season is coming to an end. The sun is shining, SNL spoofed CPAs with their Mort Feingold skit last Saturday night, I have received numerous “Tax Relief Special” emails in my inbox this week, we held our final busy season dinner last night and there’s an impromptu happy hour going on in the cafe right now. The end is near and the mood in the office feels a bit like the last day of school.
This is my seventh busy season with the firm and a time of year I can’t help but reflect on just how hard all the people around me have been working. I’d like to take this opportunity to say, “congrats!” to my fellow coworkers. I know if doesn’t seem like much coming from the Marketing Manager, but they’ve balanced a heavy workload while still being fun to be around. I have always said that I enjoy my job here at GBQ largely because of the people I work with and this busy season was no exception. From fresh fruit Monday, ice cream sundae bar and pizza night, to happy hour, chair massages and the infamous bean count, there was always an opportunity to take a breather from an audit or tax return, socialize and connect with fellow coworkers.
Next Thursday night is the grand finale of the past three and a half months and one of my favorite nights of year, the annual GBQ ‘End of Busy Season’ party. This year, we’re going to The Big Bang piano bar and as always, our office will be closed the next day to allow associates extra time with family and friends. Stay tuned for photos from the party and fair warning to the Arena District, my coworkers will be on the loose Thursday night!
