Several metrics for construction costs showed increased upward pressure on prices through September but an unexpected decline in the price of oil has the potential to offset most of the price increases for building materials and products.
HIS Global reported that all 12 of the components of its PEG Engineering and Construction Cost Index (ECCI) increased in September. The ECCI rose from 53 in August to 57.8 percent in September, which registered the highest reading in 18 months.
