John joined GBQ in 2021 and advises clients on state and local tax matters involving corporation income/franchise, gross receipts, pass-through entity, sales/use, individual income, and employer withholding taxes. His experience includes assisting clients with state and local tax aspects of transactional matters and matters regarding tax audits and controversies.
Prior to joining GBQ, John was involved with the state and local tax practice at a top Ohio law firm and worked in the international tax planning and M&A group of a global medical and pharmaceutical products distributor. John began his career as an attorney examiner with the Ohio Department of Taxation.
John has presented at conferences on various topics, including Ohio’s Financial Institutions Tax (FIT), combined reporting issues facing multistate businesses, state and local taxation of pass-through entities and their owners, and bright-line nexus standards for the Ohio Commercial Activity Tax (CAT).
