Maria joined GBQ in 2016 as an intern within the Forensic & Dispute Advisory Services (FDAS) department. She began her full-time employment as a Rotation Staff Accountant in August of 2017 and continued to assist the FDAS team throughout her rotation. In 2018, Maria became a permanent member of the FDAS team after spending time in both GBQ’s tax and assurance practices. She is a Certified Public Accountant with experience in business valuation and fraud-related services.

Maria’s experience includes a wide variety of valuation, separate property tracing, income analysis, and forensic engagements. She conducted these engagements for several purposes, including family law and fraud matters. She is responsible for considering all of the information provided, determining how to best address the clients’ concerns, performing financial analyses, and presenting and communicating the information tailored to a specific audience. Maria prides herself on working with clients with a broad range of financial acumen and is specifically focused on working in the collaborative family law space. She believes that collaborative cases can yield better results when the parties can work together to help control their own destiny.

In her experience working with clients on family law matters, Maria has performed income analyses for child and spousal support, performed asset tracing of separate versus marital property, traced personal and corporate funds, determined the value of a business, and prepared a marital balance sheet.

Maria is involved with several initiatives within GBQ, including recruiting and onboarding and the firm’s women’s group, wGBQ. She is also a founding member of GBQ’s Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Committee and is passionate about its firmwide impact.
