Ohio Employers Have Until March 31 To Apply For TechCred
The Ohio TechCred Program is an initiative designed to empower businesses and employees in the state by fostering a technology-driven workforce. The program reimburses up to $2,000 per credential for employees who successfully complete approved training programs. Employers are eligible to receive up to $30,000 per funding round. By participating in TechCred, businesses can enhance their workforce’s development of digital skills or STEM-related technical skills while receiving financial support for their investment in employee development.
Who Can Apply
Ohio employers of all sizes and industries are eligible to apply, provided they are registered with the Ohio Secretary of State and have a physical, non-residential business location in the state. These credentials must be industry-recognized, technology-focused, and completed within 12 months of the award date.
The current application window runs through 3 p.m. March 31, 2025. To apply, employers must submit applications during a designated period through the TechCred website (https://techcred.ohio.gov/apply). Applications will be evaluated based on criteria including the level of economic distress in the employer’s region and the employer’s contribution toward the credential cost.

What Is Needed To Apply
As part of the application, applicants are required to provide employer information (e.g., FEIN, Ohio charter number, number of full-time Ohio-based employees), credential information (e.g., training and certification cost, name and type of training provider, requested reimbursement amount from credential), and trainee information (number of prospective and incumbent employees who will earn each credential).
Eligible training providers include universities, community colleges, technical centers, and private training providers. Employers may be reimbursed for outlays covering tuition, lab fees, manuals, textbooks, and certification costs. Employers must submit documentation within six (6) weeks of an employee completing the credential to receive reimbursement.
