GBQ is excited to announce the opening of a new office in Chicago and the addition of Tom Kabler, CPA, CFE, CFF, ABV, CGMA, who joins our Forensic and Dispute Advisory practice as a Director and head of this new office. Tom has spent the majority of his career providing litigation consulting, forensic investigations, valuation and expert testimony services to his clients.
Tom has more than 25 years of experience, including at several national public accounting firms, as a damages and forensic expert for complex business disputes. He has consulted and testified about lost profits, business interruption, construction delay, property and liability insurance claims. Tom has been qualified as an expert witness in Federal, Illinois and other state courts.
Tom also leads corporate investigations, helping clients determine the scope, cause and remediation of frauds and accounting and other regulatory compliance matters. Tom has also handled international investigations, including helping Fortune 500 companies investigate violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) to determine the amount and areas of violation.
“We are very pleased to add someone with Tom’s breadth of skills and depth of experience to our team,” said Rebekah Smith, Director of Forensic and Dispute Advisory Services in GBQ’s Columbus office. “His extensive investigative background significantly adds to our capabilities to assist clients with fraud and forensic investigations. We are excited to have someone with his national firm background and testifying experience leading our new Chicago office,” Smith added.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy with Honors from the University of Illinois.
