Ryan Kilpatrick, CPA, recently earned the Certified Construction Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation, which awards him recognition among the most highly qualified financial professionals serving the construction industry. Kilpatrick, a director of tax and business advisory services at GBQ Partners, an award-winning Top 100 tax, consulting, and business consulting firm, serves clients from GBQ’s Cincinnati office.
According to the Certification Division of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), the CCIFP designation is the “only construction financial management certification accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).”
As a result of his successful completion of the CCIFP exam, Kilpatrick joins an exclusive group of more than 1,150 professionals nationwide who have met the rigorous standards of the CCIFP designation in construction financial management. According to the CFMA, Kilpatrick’s new designation demonstrates a proven record of accomplishment, experience, and success, and is now considered to be among the most highly qualified construction financial professionals.
Media representatives with CFMA state in a release that the CCIFP is the only standard to recognize financial professionals with a superior understanding of the construction industry’s financial opportunities and challenges. To earn the designation, candidates must serve in a professional financial role for a construction contractor or an accounting and/or financial service provider to the industry and pass a comprehensive exam. To maintain certification, CCIFPs are required to adhere to a Code of Ethics and complete ongoing continuing education in the field of construction financial management.
The CCIFP exam covers accounting and reporting, income recognition, budgeting and planning, risk management, taxes, human resources, legal issues, and information technology. The designation has garnered endorsements from the CFMA, Construction Industry CPAs/Consultants Association (CICPAC), International Risk Management Institute (IRMI), National Association of Surety Bond Professionals (NASBP), and other well-respected construction industry groups.
Kilpatrick joined GBQ in 2017 after working as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service. In 2020, he left to accept an opportunity with another Cincinnati CPA firm before returning to GBQ in 2021. Having spent more than a decade in public accounting, Kilpatrick specializes in providing tax compliance and consulting services to small- to mid-size businesses. Additionally, he plays a role in providing transaction advisory services. Outside of work, Kilpatrick is actively involved with the Cincinnati chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth as well as CFMA’s Cincinnati Chapter. He also serves as a board officer and finance committee chair for New Path Child & Family Solutions.
