Mike is a native of metro-Detroit and earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in accounting from Michigan State University. Prior to joining GBQ, Mike began his public accounting career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Columbus, OH.

Mike joined GBQ in 2012 and provides assurance and advisory services to SEC registrants and privately-held companies. Mike serves a broad range of clients, including the manufacturing and distribution, service, not-for-profit, and construction industries. In addition to financial reporting and financial statement assurance services, Mike also specializes and assists clients with internal control evaluation (including evaluation with the COSO framework), Sarbanes Oxley compliance, and OMB Uniform Guidance (formerly Circular A-133) implementation.

At GBQ, Mike is a member of the firm’s internal quality control team, accounting and auditing update evaluation and implementation group, and the assurance efficiency and effectiveness committee. Mike also facilitates GBQ’s internal and external technical training seminars as a team leader. By utilizing Mike’s experience at PwC and four years of shared client service at GBQ with BDO USA, Mike brings outside perspective and experience to GBQ’s internal processes and policies. Mike is also a member of the firm’s campus recruiting team, the quarterly alumni newsletter team, Manufacturing Minute newsletter team, staff development group and the firm’s summer community service initiative.

Outside of GBQ, Mike serves on the Board of Directors for Homeport, which gives greater security, opportunity, and dignity to thousands of low-income people in Central Ohio by building quality, affordable homes, primarily financed with private investment leveraged by Federal tax credits. Mike is also involved with the USA Hockey, OHSAA, and American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) hockey leagues as a referee, and officiates district, regional, and state championships tournaments, as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets development and training camps.

Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
