GBQ is pleased to announce Kaz Unalan, CPA, Director, Tax & Business Advisory Services, has been appointed to the city of Upper Arlington 2019 Citizen Financial Review Task Force.
In 2014, Upper Arlington City Council appointed a Citizen Financial Review Task Force to perform a detailed study of the City’s finances to develop recommendations that would keep the City on a strong financial footing and enable it to fully meet its obligations to the community. The task force issued a report containing recommendations, one being a follow up review to measure the effectiveness of steps taken to implement the recommendations of the 2014 report and determine if additional recommendations should be established and pursued by the City. As a result, the 2019 task force has begun its review expected to conclude this summer.
“Kaz’s strong financial background will allow him to comprehend the rationale behind the 2014 recommendations as well as understand the City’s current financial status. As top of this foundation, Kaz’s practical, problem-solving mentality developed from his experience working with middle market, closely held businesses over the years will assist the task force not only identify potential issues, but more importantly, find practical well-thought solutions. Most importantly, Kaz is someone you can trust to do the right thing for the City,” said Brian Close, Upper Arlington City Council Member.
Kaz is a Tax Partner at GBQ with a focus to provide tax compliance and consulting for middle market, closely held businesses and their owners. Kaz leads GBQ’s Succession Planning Services and is the tax practice leader for restaurant and real estate industries. He is also part of GBQ’s Transaction Advisory Services Group assisting clients with their tax planning, structuring and due diligence needs.« Back
